NEWS FROM THE FRIENDS
Well! How wonderful to be able to start arranging things again and to be able to fund-raise which had to stop in 2020.
First of all, thank you to all of our members who have continued to support with donations through the last year. That has been invaluable.
You can become a member of the Friends by filling in the Gift Aid Declaration with Banker’s Order (Barclays) (membership is a minimum of £5 per year).
We have now been able to have two events this summer, both very successful. Firstly, many thanks to Rachel Williams who made her garden available on 2nd July for a coffee morning. It was so lovely to be able to meet people safely outside – and the weather was kind to us too. We raised a wonderful £412.00. Thank you to everyone concerned.
Next was the Toddington Open Gardens Event on 17th and 18th July. An incredible 16 gardens opened over the weekend and the weather was glorious. A huge thank you to those who opened their gardens, to Panache who sponsored the event (and a special thank you to Roy Hincks who arranged all of the signage, posters and printing), to all who helped behind the scenes and, of course, all those who came to see the gardens. We raised over £3,200 which is wonderful.
Although fund-raising ground to a halt in 2020, things needing attention in the church didn’t and we have been able to help Toddington Parochial Church Council with grants of just over £6,300 for necessary repairs in 2020 and 2021 so far. The church will be 800 years old next year and there are always things to be done in a building this old. So, thank you again for your support.
